DDal 3 al17 maggio 2019 personale e mezzi della 1ª Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB), di stanza a Fort Riley in Kansas (USA), impegnata in un periodo di addestramento in Europa, si sono rischierati presso l'aeroporto di Rivolto, sede del 2° Stormo, per partecipare all'esercitazione della US Army denominata "IMMEDIATE RESPONSE 2019 (IR19)".
L'esercitazione è volta a testare la capacità di proiezione rapida su una Forward Operating Base (FOB) delle Unità coinvolte della US ARMY in scenari operativi di crisi lontani dalla base madre.
In particolare, la 1ª CAB ha il compito di fornire
supporto aereo alla 173ª Infantry Brigade Combat Team - Airborne (IBCT- A), di stanza a Vicenza ed alla Brigata Folgore dell'E.I. nell'esecuzione delle attività
addestrative terrestri previste dallo scenario dell' esercitazione.
Le attività , dopo l' arrivo del personale e dei mezzi provenienti da vari altri rischieramenti in Germania, Lituania e Romania a Rivolto, si sono avvalse dell’appoggio di 5 elicotteri CH-47 Chinook e 12 elicotteri UH-60 Blackhawk.
La prima fase ha visto l’attività della Brigata per l’ addestramento alla bassa quota operativa e ad attività di aviolancio presso l'area addestrativa di Maniago;
La seconda fase prevedeva il trasferimento a Cerklie (Krsko) per supportare il rischieramento delle truppe terrestri coinvolte nell'esercitazione, 173ª IBCT-A e Brigata Folgore, con aviolanci da aerei da trasporto C130, di cui due appartenenti alla 46ª Brigata Aerea di Pisa, sulle basi in Slovenia e Croazia.
Unico inconveniente il tempo che ha fortemente penalizzato l’esercitazione impedendo ad altri elicotteri HH60 il trasferimento a Rivolto e ritardato la partenza verso Cerklje

From 3 to 17 May 2019 personnel and vehicles of the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB),based in Fort Riley, Kansas (USA), engaged in a period of training in Europe, they deployed at the Rivolto airport, site of the 2nd Stormo, to participate in the exercise of the US Army "IMMEDIATE RESPONSE 2019 (IR19) ".
The exercise is aimed at testing the ability of rapid projection on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) of the US Army Units involved in operational scenarios of
crises far from the home base.
In particular, the 1st CAB has the task of providing
air support for the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team - Airborne (IBCT-A), based in Vicenza and the Folgore Brigade of E.I. in the execution of the gound training activities provided by the exercise scenario.
The activities, after the arrival of personnel and vehicles coming from various other deployements in Germany, Lithuania and Romania in Rivolto, availed themselves of the support of 5 CH-47 Chinook and 12 UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters.
The first phase saw the activity of the Brigade for training at the low operational level and for airdrop activity at the training area of Maniago;
The second phase involved the transfer to Cerklie (Krsko) to support the redeployment of the terrestrial troops involved in the exercise, 173ª IBCT-A and Brigata Folgore, with airdrops from C130 transport planes, of which two belonging to the 46th Brigata Aera A.M. of Pisa, on bases in Slovenia and Croatia.
The only drawback is the bad wheather that has heavily penalized the exercise, preventing other HH60 helicopters from being transferred to Rivolto and delaying the departure to Cerklje
