Ali Storiche su Venezia

Nel 1947 sull' aeroporto di S. Nicolò al Lido di Venezia riprese vita dopo la guerra la Società Transadriatica per il trasporto passeggeri; il velivolo utilizzato fu il Douglas Dakota, allora disponibile in grandi quantità come residuato bellico.

Per ricordare quel glorioso periodo sono stati presenti nello splendido scenario del Lido quattro Dakota ( per i puristi : si usa il nome Dakota per identificare il tipo di velivolo in generale, vista la marea di designazioni differenti che ha avuto ) facenti parte del D Day Squadron che dagli USA, sotto il coordinamento di Moreno Aguiari, hanno attraversato l'Atlantico per partecipare alle celebrazioni per i 75 anni dello Sbarco in Normandia.

Le quattro macchine sono :
C-41A N341A ;
C-47 "Virgin Ann" N62CC ;
C-47 "Placid Lassie" N74589 ;
questi due velivoli hanno partecipato al D-Day il 5/6 Giugno 1944
C-53 (ma con ali e motori da un C-117) N8336.

I velivoli hanno trascorso il week-end, rimanendo a disposizione del pubblico per la visita ed effettuando alcuni voli sopra la città di Venezia.

Con l'occasione la Sig.ra Yvonne Girardello, che fu la prima hostess della Transadriatica, alla giovanissima età di 97 anni ha potuto riassaporare il piacere di volare ancora sul Dakota.

In 1947, on the S. Nicolò airport at Lido of Venice, the Società Transadriatica for passenger transport resumed life after the war ; the aircraft used was the Douglas Dakota, then available in large quantities as a war surplus.

To remember that glorious period, were present in the splendid landscape of the Lido, four Dakotas (for purists: the name Dakota is commonly used to identify the type of aircraft in general, given the large amount of different designations it has had) belonging to the D Day Squadron, that from the USA, under the coordination of Moreno Aguiari, they crossed the Atlantic to participate in the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the Landing in Normandy.

The four machines are:
  C-41A N341A;
C-47 "Virgin Ann" N62CC;
C-47 "Placid Lassie" N74589 ;
those two aircraft partecipated at the D- Day on 5/6 June 1944
   C-53 (but with wings and engines from a C-117) N8336.

  The aircraft spent the weekend, remaining available to the public for the visit and making some flights over the city of Venice.

  On this occasion, Ms. Yvonne Girardello, who was the first stewardess of the Transadriatica, was able to taste the pleasure of flying again with the Dakota at the 'green' age of 97.
